AN ARTIST with a life-threatening illness has been invited to unveil some of her outstanding eco-friendly works at an exhibition.
Diane Johnson of Canterbury, has shrugged-off the neuro muscular disorder she suffers from to complete 30 etchings for a Recycled Earth exhibition held at Croydon from May 22nd – June 5th 2003 at BedZED (Beddington Zero Energy Development).
Near to completing a fine art degree at Canterbury Christchurch University College after receiving the Student of the Year award, Diane’s exhibition will reflect a remarkable ability to make use of recycled waste that most people would bin.
She works with soil, chalk, brick dust, rust, roof tiles and has even badgered archaeologists for earth dug from Canterbury’s historic dig sites to work into fine art etchings that are rapidly making a dynamic contribution to the art world.
Diane has even used oil from her chip pan.
“I’ll think nothing of getting friends to bring back soil from Egypt, Greece or Canada if I think I can make use of it as an eco artist,” explains Diane.
