Some Examples of Diane's Recent Work, the first Gallery is inspired by the Elements and contains four paintings, Earth 2, Wind (Feathers),Fire (Eruption) and Water (Splash).
Earth (Journeys)
This painting is created using earth and sand from many places that I have visited. Its journey starts in Canterbury, then travels across the land to Bristol and Cornwall. Then it's across the sea/ sky to France, Greece, Italy, Spain and sand from the Sahara desert. Air (Feathers)
Earth, Feathers, Twigs, Leaves, Pine Cones and feathers.
The inspiration for this piece came from working in Marchwood Kent. It was seeing the almost perfect circles of hundreds of feathers left after foxes had fed on their prey. Fire Eruption
Earth, Charcoal, Volcanic Ash.
This piece was inspired by a visit to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii in Italy also to Nisseros a volcanic Island in Greece. It is painted in egg tempura on recycled handmade paper. The paint is made from red/ yellow earth (from Rousillon), and ground Charcoal. The surface layer is volcanic ash from Pompeii and Nisseros. Water (Splash)
Chalk, Flower Dyes (woad, Indigo) Wire & BeadsThis piece tries to capture the ripples made by a small pebble as it breaks the surface of the water
